“Shine” at AdventHealth, Merriam, KS

"Shine" is a 10-foot-tall site-specific sculpture fabricated in steel and inset cast glass, with panels featuring layered star motifs. The sculpture is illuminated from within by integrated LED lighting.

“Shine” is dedicated to children of the B.E. Smith Family Center who have passed away — 46 names are now engraved on glowing stars within the sculpture. It honors their memory while celebrating the enduring light of every child who has been part of this community.
Inspired by the center’s logo, the sun-like form radiates joy and presence. An archway invites visitors to walk through, while stainless steel and acrylic stars glow day and night so the children’s memories always shine.

The piece stands in the Olivia Bloomfield Memorial Garden, alongside playful musical equipment, reinforcing a spirit of life, joy, and togetherness. Funded by the Olivia Bloomfield Foundation and the Logan Baker Foundation, "Shine" was created by families who know both love and loss.
